Using Yarn B and 3mm needles cast on 27 sts.

Row 1 (ws): Knit.

Rows 2–3: Knit 2 rows.

Rows 4–19: Starting with a knit row, stocking stitch 16 rows.

RIGHT BUTTON PLACKET

Row 20: K15, turn. (15 sts)

Row 21: K3, P12.

Rows 22–23: Rpt last 2 rows.

Row 24: K13, YO, K2tog, turn.

Row 25: K1, Ktbl, K1, P12.

Rows 26–31: Rpt rows 20 & 21, 3 more times.

Row 32: Rpt row 24.

Row 33: Rpt row 25.

Cast off 15 sts, cut yarn.

LEFT BUTTON PLACKET

Row 1: Returning to stitches still on needle, rejoin Yarn B and pick up and knit 3 sts from BEHIND the first row of the right button placket (see Techniques, Picking Up Stitches), knit across stitches on left hand needle. (15 sts)

Row 2: P12, K3.

Row 3: Knit.

Rows 4–13: Repeat last 2 rows, 5 more times.

Row 14: P12, K3.

Cast off.
